I love words. I love that one word can have several definitions. Do you ever look up the meanings of words? Often I know the “standard” definition of the words, but then I go and look up and find something new…often something more applicable.
The last month or so I’ve been thinking about my word for 2011. Last year’s word was Discover and, gosh, I discovered so much: about myself, my love, my life, my family, my faith…so much. It was really, really, good to get the opportunity to examine myself and my feelings on a deeper level. I often have felt that I just drive through life without stopping, with out paying notice to the things and people around me. So, in choosing the word Discover, reflecting on it throughout the year, remembering it throughout the year (in both good times and bad), was such a good exercise.
Choosing 2011’s word was no easy task. Several words came and went, among them: live, love, surrender & risk. Up until the last minute, my word was surrender. But then something changed and the word ‘bloom’ just came to my heart. Yes, this is the year to bloom, this is the year to glow, flourish, open, invest beauty, thrive.
