My Approach
I believe that every encounter is an opportunity to learn, experience, and share the gospel. I consider it my life’s work to care, counsel, and lead God’s sons and daughters to understand how the good news of Jesus Christ informs every facet of their lives. This good news is most received when we are reminded of our identity in Christ and the belonging and comfort we receive as image-bearers and co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16-17). I hold a high view of Scripture and its doctrines and so counsel from the Word. It is where we find the very heart of God.
In our day-to-day living, we will find conflicts and suffering. We find it in relationships, circumstances, and in our own hearts. Sometimes we just need to process with someone to help us see with better clarity to conform to the image of Christ. Frequently, we can find ourselves hopeless, disoriented, and in despair. When we think about understanding this on our own, it can be a difficult task. It is only when we go into the sanctuary of God’s word that we will be able to discern the end of these felt experiences (Psalm 73:16-17) and gain the clarity we so desperately need.
It is my privilege to help you through suffering and difficulty, to help you behold Christ’s heart for you in all of life. As a biblical counselor, it is my goal to remind you that Jesus invites us to living hope and radical transformation. He invites us to transform into the same image – His image, from one degree of glory to another. It is my honor to lead you from the place you find yourself right now into a new degree of glory. 2 Corinthians 3:18 is the heartbeat of my counseling approach.
“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
How I Can Help You
I desire to help you wherever you are in life. I do this by assisting you in learning and applying biblical truth to your circumstances and relationships, and by encouraging you to trust the Lord in the face of the great or small worries of your everyday life. All this to help you to grow and become more aware of who you are in Christ.
Biblical counseling starts with personal assessment and ownership of where you are at. This means that every person, individual or married, must begin with an understanding that they are on a journey of growth, meaning: none of us have arrived but we all have room to grow. If this commitment can be the posture at the start, and reminded along the way, there is an excellent possibility for counseling to enable change in your life.
Like most people seeking wise counsel, you may not be sure where you are at. I desire to help you seek restoration in specific and intentional ways. We’ll do this through 1) personal assessment and 2) dialog, as well as 3) digging into the everyday troubles you currently need counsel for. 4) I offer practical homework that challenges you to think deeply and widely about current relationships (with God and others), situations, and the season you are in right now.
